Now, we can say all routes are comfortable compared to the past few years of experience. Due to the fine highway roads constructed in the whole Kailash Journey, our yatra or tour is more comfortable than traveling off-road until a few years ago. However, we can suggest that flight options via both the Nepal-side Hilsa route and via Lhasa Ali would be a better choice for a comfortable tour if you keep an exceptional cost factor in mind.

Explore Vacation is a team of experts in Kailash Operation with 20 years of experience since 2003. Since the journey began, there have been lots of improvements, and the facilities are updated in terms of accommodations. We passed the journey of organizing this exclusive lifetime holy trip from tented accommodation to a simple mudhouse to better teahouse guesthouses, and now, today, you can stay overnight at better hotels in the standard room with an attached bathroom.

As per the present context, you will get mostly better standard or deluxe rooms with attached bathrooms as per the package booked for the most of your stay during the Kailash Yatra in all kinds of routes or packages. You have a choice of accommodation from standard to 5-star hotels in cities like Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Lhasa, Ali, and Shigatse. Similarly, budget-friendly standard hotel accommodation to 4-star-type hotels in rural towns like Kerung, Saga, and Darchen.

However, we have to still adjust somehow in the basic guesthouse (clean dormitory rooms) with the very basic Tibetan toilet (unpreferred), or we can say without toilet in the special destination like Lake Manasarovar, and two nights in Kailash Parikrama at Diraphuk and Zuthulphuk stay. Besides these three nights in Kailash, your stay in Hilsa or Simikot while you travel via the flight route to the Hilsa border and stay in Timure while you book via the overland route to the Kyirong border is slightly basic but somehow better than that of Lake Manasarovar.
Also, we would suggest to keep a bed sheet cover which will be helpful when you are sleeping in the guesthouses.

The climate in Tibet changes drastically, and it lies on a high plateau. Being the roof of the world, we have to plan very carefully when traveling to Tibet, as there is a risk of getting high-altitude sickness during the trip. Tibet is open to tourists from April to the end of February. Hence, you can avoid the winter period when traveling in Tibet or Kailash, especially for those who are older and have never traveled in high land above 3000m. The best period to be suggested is May to the end of September for all types of guests, travelers, and yatris. However, experienced and tough travelers can plan their tour in Tibet destinations (except some areas) from April to February, while in regards to the Kailash Tour, April mid-to-November mid-month only.

Moreover, you have a choice of multicuisine dishes in the restaurants of the hotels or outside the hotels while you are in the developed town, like in Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Lhasa, or Shigatse. Yes, it is also possible and safe for the children to travel to Kailash Mansarovar, which we have already organized many times in our past packages. However, it is not suggestive for the child below 10 years; we can suggest and it is safe to carry a child above 10 years to the Kailash trip. We have seen that some individual families are traveling to Kailash with their small children or those less than 10 years old, but they are probably from the local people of China and Tibet or foreign travelers who have already traveled to off-beaten regions or high elevations. So, the parents are fully responsible for their children's care and safety while traveling in Kailash, whether they are infant kids or grownup kids.

Kailash Mansarovar Package costs are the same for children and adults. Because the special travel permit, visa, entry fees, flight tickets, hotel accommodation, and seats in buses are unchanged for both adults & kids, there are no adjustments or considerations in the package cost for children.

Those who are healthy enough and wish to complete the kora (parikrama) of Mt. Kailash but feel unable to trek for a long day or want to complete it a little more comfortably can book the horse and porter for the circumambulation of Mt. Kailash. And you should book it at least a day before with full payment of the applicable cost for the horse and porter as per the rules of the local authority in that travel year.
